Can I Use My Inactive License

May 13, 2019 by Rick Landuyt Leave a Comment

Q: I have a real estate sales license in WA st. inactive status because I am not working under a broker. I want to buy a house. Can I be the realtor for my own house?

A: If your License is not active (or valid) then the answer is ‘no’ . You could either reactivate your license or check with your agent (or the agent who has the house listed) to see if they would work something out for you. Keep in mind, if your goal is to get the best deal, bottom line, then quit thinking like a FSBO! The commission is not the main thing to consider when negotiating – a good agent can negotiate bigger savings in other areas – trust an agent.
