Find Out Utility Costs On New Home

March 4, 2019 by Rick Landuyt Leave a Comment

Q: Hi, I am interested in buying a 3000 sq ft home. Can I access the utility bills by directly calling the electric company? I am dealing with a relocation company that has the property now for the previous owners. How do I find out this information? Thanks for any information you could give me.

A: In the Detroit metro area of Michigan & in Macomb County, where my office is, we can call the utility company & they will give an estimated ‘budget amount’. This is based on the past 12 months of use & averaged on a monthly amount you would have to pay.Keep in mind, that everyone has a ‘personal use’ factor based on their lifestyle & number of people living in the property.
