Q: I have a home and small piece of land that my name is on. It was financed through the home owner. I am sharing the deed with another person. I have moved out 3 years ago and the other person on the deed still lives on the property. I don’t think I CAN GET NAME OFF IT . I want to get married but my fiance says it can come back to him the house and affect his credit is this so??
A: Try to, through a local title company or your REALTOR, get a ‘quit claim deed’ prepared. Convey the interest you have in the property to one of the other owners. Then DELIVER that deed to that ‘other owner’ – & get it recorded. Ask the title company (attorney) you are going to work with about the process & how it is facilitated in your state.
